DGS students perform in Thames Vale Youth Orchestra Concert

Posted on: 16/12/2024

On the 11th December Miss Edwards had the pleasure of attending the Thames Vale Youth Orchestra (TVYO) winter concert. This is an orchestra made up of  talented and committed young musicians from 11-18 years old, who are of approximately Grade 5+ standard and above. TVYO brings together more than 80 members, including students from 22 local state and independent schools and those who are home schooled.  Recent members have played in the National Children's Orchestra and the National Youth Orchestra, and have also attended  the Junior departments of the Royal College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music.

Miss Edwards shared that it was a great privilege to watch this concert and she was especially proud of those students involved who attend DGS or Didcot Sixth Form. They performed a range of challenging works to an incredible standard, including a Violin solo played by Iona A who is one of our A-Level musicians. The commitment and dedication shown by these students and the whole Orchestra was truly outstanding and I was brimming with pride. It was lovely to catch up with DGS families who attended the concert and share in the joy that Music can bring.

We want to share a huge congratulations to all involved for a truly wonderful evening of Music and we look forward to the RET Christmas Concert on Tuesday 17th December.
