Respect for ourselves guides our morals; respect for others guides our manners
Laurence Sterne

At Didcot Girls’ School, we embrace the profound significance of respect, which is woven into the very fabric of our community. It is not just a value that we put on posters and talk about in assemblies: it is a compass that guides every decision and interaction we have during the school year.

As a community, we stand united in our belief that respect forms the cornerstone of what makes our school special. It is a powerful adhesive that bridges differences, fostering understanding, empathy, and unity. When respect is given and received, it creates an environment where every individual feels valued and acknowledged. In the classrooms, corridors, and sports fields, our students and staff exemplify this ethos daily, each act of respect forming a ripple that reverberates through every corner of the school.

Our students, as ambassadors of respect, epitomize the values instilled within these walls. Their polite demeanour, active listening, and consideration towards their peers and teachers can be seen in the smallest and biggest of acts. It's in the small gestures—a genuine "thank you," a reassuring smile—that we see the reflection of our school pride as well as the wonderful ‘Black History month’ assemblies and House opening events that we enjoy together.

The pride we take isn't just about academic excellence; it's about nurturing young minds who understand the importance of respect, not only in our microcosm but in the wider world. They carry this understanding into their future endeavours, sowing seeds of respect in the communities they'll touch.

Let us celebrate the importance of respect, not just as an important value; but as a legacy we are proud to embrace at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø, for now and for the future.
