DGS supporting development of SOFEA's Nourish and Flourish programme

Posted on: 26/06/2023

SOFEA’s Nourish and Flourish programme launched in 2022 and has developed a Nourish and Flourish School Programme, initially aimed at Year 5 students, in partnership with the Didcot Primary Care Network. At Didcot Girls School, we are delighted to be supporting this programme by providing the use of our food labs for the Nourish and Flourish School Programme chefs to run the cooking skills session element.

Having supported the initial pilot with three Didcot primary schools in 2022, (Manor, Stephen Freeman and Willowcroft), we are proud to be supporting the pilot expansion in 2023 which is engaging eight Didcot primary schools with a total of 455 students (including All Saints, Didcot Primary Academy, Hagbourne, Harwell, Ladygrove, Manor, Northbourne and Willowcroft).

The SOFEA Nourish and Flourish programme aims to provide free nutritional support in the community and in addition to the school programme encompasses 2 other key areas a) clinical one to one nutritional therapy support – through direct referrals from GPs, Diabetic Nurses and Social Prescribers b) The development of a Nourish and Flourish community kitchen for launch in autumn 2023.

More details will be available on the SOFEA website soon .  Follow SOFEA updates via their social media channels.
