Music thrives across the Ridgeway Education Trust

Posted on: 15/12/2022

On Monday 5th December, Vocal Group and Young Voices from Didcot Girls’ School and St Birinus Schooltravelled to Coventry to take part and perform in the ROAR project at Coventry Cathedral.

As we entered Coventry cathedral, we were greeted with kaleidoscopiccolour from the immense and iconic stained glass windows, along with a beautifully decorated Christmas tree. We rehearsed throughout the day, along with many other schools, and the performance was conducted by the brilliant Paul McCreesh. This was our first time singing alongside a professional choir, and at an event this big.

This was a fantastic opportunity for so many of us! Thank you so much to all of the members of staff who gave up their time to accompany us on this amazing day, and to all of the music staff, who helped us rehearse and work towards such an amazing event!

On 13th December, students from across the RidgewayEducation Trust came together to provide an evening offestive cheer in the annual Christmas Concert. Students had spent the whole of the second term practicing their pieces, and it's safe to say that it all paid off wonderfully! FromDebussy to Bon Jovi, the evening displayed a wide variety of pieces that involved solo items, duets, small groups, and our larger ensembles. The engagement and quality of theperformances proved a great success and left us all in great anticipation to see what the 2023 spring concert brings.
