Please enjoy the Thought for the Term from Miss Davies

Many of us would have had struggles over the last few years and could be considering small changes to improve our lifestyle or wellbeing. A fresh start does not need to involve changing every aspect of your life or lifestyle, it can often involve changing one or two smaller aspects that can often create a domino effect in creating a happier and healthier version of yourself.

I believe the following can be vital ingredients that impact how happy and confident we feel within ourselves:

  • Maximise opportunities – take the opportunities that get presented to us, try new things and step out of your comfort zone. Think about the things you would like to try and plan how to you can achieve these.
  • Don’t underestimate the small things – small changes can have a huge impact. Think creatively about the small things that you would like to change that are easy to implement and maintain that could make a significant difference to how we feel.
  • Accept what we cannot change – naturally, many of us will focus on the barriers that prevent us from making changes. Regardless of what social media allows us to believe, no one in this world is perfect or has the perfect life. In pursuing what we believe to be perfection, we can forget about the small things that we take for granted. Accepting things we are unable to change and focusing on the small things that we can, can generate a huge impact and can enable us to feel more greater self-worth and appreciation.
  • Acts of Kindness – each day look for opportunities to make other people feel happy, valued and appreciated. This can help to replace personal negative thoughts with feelings of positivity obtained from the happy responses from others.

Whatever has happened in our past and whatever lies ahead of us, we can always create a fresh start for ourselves. Courage, determination and self-belief are required whilst accepting the support of loved ones around us. The school community is built on inclusion, respect and high expectations and can support anyone who would like to make a change to be the best version of themselves.

Every day is an opportunity for a fresh start.
