Congratulations to Lilia G (Y9) for successfully swimming a sub 2.23.10 on her Backstroke at Guildford las weekend, breaking the 03/04 birth year time, alongside her own 05 birth year time. This means she deservedly now has a palce at the Swim England National Winter Championships in Sheffield. A huge well done to Lilia and good luck!

A massive well done to Grace B (Y10) for being selected to be a Junior Captain for Golf, meaning that she will be working closely with the Juniors coaching team in the coming year, giving ideas on how to make golf more fun and engaging for children and adults. Alongside this, Grace has also been selected onto a scholarship programme with her club meaning that she will now increase her training and practising opportunities over this year. Good Luck, Grace!

Huge congratulations to Year 7 student Pip Couchman who came 5th in the British National Judo Championships!

Well done to Lily S (Y10) and her partner in ice skating. Lily has been working tirelessly over the last few months and is through to the National Competition this December. This should be streamed on BBC Three so keep an eye out for that. Good luck Lily, we cannot wait to hear/see all about it

Well done to the U14s badminton team who participated in the South Oxon Badminton Tournament at Ickneild School on Tuesday 23rd November. Miss Slater took a group of 8 GCSE PE students to their first ever badminton tournament and they were fantastic! Although not coming away with any placings in this competition, the girls had the opportunity to develop their knowledge and understanding of badminton as a game and have a lot to go away with and implement into their lessons to help improve their performance in the coming months and years.

Massive congratulations to Hannah Ackland-Snow who, after a disruptive year, with no competition in archery due to covid, has moved up into the Top 10 in the country for archery, and is now ranked 7th! This is a huge accomplishment for Hannah and we are so proud of the dedication you have shown to your training and competitions! Well done and keep up the great work!

The U16 badminton team participated in a round robin tournament in which our A and B teams played Icknield Community Colelge. Icknield came first, DGS A came second and DGS B came third. The highlight of the tournament included Amber Collins Freeman playing in a tight game against Icknield which equated to a 15-13 score to Icknield. In addition, Emma Park beat Icknield convincingly in a single game leading to a score of 15-3 to DGS. The doubles combination of Charlotte Taylor and Amber Collins Freeman thrived  in a nail-biting game that ended in a narrow defeat of 19-21 to Icknield. All the girls played exceptionally well and learnt a lot along the way.
