GCSE and BTEC Examination Results Summer 2021

Today we congratulate all of our year 11 students as they receive their GCSE and BTEC results. We are delighted that such a bright and hard-working cohort of students have been awarded excellent results. These results will allow students to progress to their desired sixth form, college or training course.

This year, following the cancellation of exams, grades were awarded through a process of teacher assessed grades, against a national standard and approved and awarded by the exam boards. The government is not publishing performance data for any schools or colleges this year due to the varying impact of the pandemic.

We are delighted that 87% of our 253 Year 11 students achieved a Grade 4 (equivalent to a C grade) and above in English and Maths, and 73% achieved Grade 5 or above in both.

95% of students achieved Grade 4 and above in English and 90% achieved Grade 4 and above in Maths. At Grade 5 and above, 81% were successful in English and 80% in Maths.

Results at the highest levels are excellent across all subjects with 40% of all grades at 7-9 and 25% at grades 8 or 9. 45 students achieved 6 or more grades 8 or 9.

In summary, for the 253 students:

- 95% of students gained a grade 4 or above in English

- 90% of students gained a grade 4 or above in Maths

- 39% of students gained a grade 7, 8 or 9 in English

- 44% of students gained a grade 7, 8 or 9 in Maths

- 40% of all entries were grades 7-9

-37% of students gained 5 or more grades 7-9

- 89% of BTEC students gained a Level 2 qualification

- 100% of BTEC students gained either a Level 1 or Level 2 qualification

- 100% of students gained at least 5 GCSE passes

- Overall attainment 8 figure: 59.7

“We are extraordinarily proud of all of our students this year. They have achieved a superb set of results against a backdrop of uniquely challenging circumstances. They have faced lockdowns, self-isolation and changes to examination requirements with characteristic resilience, determination and good humour. They deserve their success and should be very proud of all they have achieved during their time at Didcot Girls; these results are a real testament to their exceptional hard work and the strength of partnership between staff, students and parents and carers which has never been more important than over the past 18 months. Thank you to all of the staff at Didcot Girls’ School who have supported the students during the last five years. We wish all of Year 11 the very best of luck with their next steps and look forward to welcoming back a large number to our outstanding Sixth Form.”

Rachael Warwick, Executive Headteacher of Ridgeway Education Trust, said:

These outstanding results are well deserved. Didcot Girls’ School is a school which delivers superb results for its young people year after year and this year is no different. Thank you to the talented and dedicated teaching and support staff whose passionate commitment has made this possible. Congratulations!”
